April 22, 2022 is Earth Day. Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC is a whole Earth Congregation and being such, we wanted to share some Earth Day facts and activities weekly for a whole month, March 22, until Earth Day on April 22, 2022. F or week 1 we focus on Three Basic Rules of Recycling   We are lucky here in Cumberland County that we have a number of recycling centers throughout the county.  So what can you do at home to make the recycling easier for you and your family?  There a which types of plastic your building and neighborhood will accept. There are three easy rules.  Knowing these rules and putting them into practice will help you recycle more efficiently. Recycle bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. Make sure it's clean! Flatten cardboard. Set up designated recycling containers at home, work, and school. Look for products made out of recycled materials when you shop. Identify Keep food and liquid out of your recycling.   Look into composing.  We will be covering

March Madness has come to the Grab Thrift Store . We wouldn't be using brackets, but Bags. So, get your bags ready for soome truley mad savings. Beginning with the 1st Saturday in March, that is March 5, your can stuff all you can into a bag (provieded by the Garb) for only $5. Yes, it is madness. Let’s talk about fabric stashes. Almost every sewist we know has one. Some would argue I have more than one. Sewists as a breed tend to have a habit of buying and collecting fabric. You’ve heard the adage—sewing and buying fabric are two different hobbies. This resolution isn’t about shopping your stash, although, of course, we recommend it—the most sustainable fabric is the fabric you already own. Pray and Protest for Peace , On Friday, March 4 at 4pm in Cookeville Square We call on all people of good will from across the Upper Cumberland region of Tennesse e, to join us as we pray and protest for peace. Our rally and vigil will take place on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 4pm on the Cookeville Square . We stand in solidarity with victims of violence everywhere, but especially with the brave people of Ukraine, as they stare down an aggressive invasion and possible occupation. We stand in solidarity with courageous protesters across Russia who are saying NO to this immoral war. We also extend solidarity and love to all victims of war, violence, and totalitarian domination that are not making current headlines, including people in Yemen, Syria, Somalia, Myanmar, Gaza, and elsewhere. We also stand with people everywhere who are ready to live in a Beloved Community of peace with justice, where all basic human needs are met with shared resources, the earth is restored and repaired,
