Pleasant Hill Community Church Earth Day 2022 Series - It is easy to Recycle

April 22, 2022 is Earth Day. Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC is a whole Earth Congregation and being such, we wanted to share some Earth Day facts and activities weekly for a whole month, March 22, until Earth Day on April 22, 2022. For week 1 we focus on Three Basic Rules of Recycling  
We are lucky here in Cumberland County that we have a number of recycling centers throughout the county.  So what can you do at home to make the recycling easier for you and your family?  There a which types of plastic your building and neighborhood will accept. There are three easy rules.  Knowing these rules and putting them into practice will help you recycle more efficiently. Recycle bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. Make sure it's clean! Flatten cardboard. Set up designated recycling containers at home, work, and school. Look for products made out of recycled materials when you shop. Identify Keep food and liquid out of your recycling.  Look into composing.  We will be covering composing in an up-coming post.  Look for updates on our Facebook page on the local composting program we have planned for Pleasant Hill. No loose plastic bags and no bagged recyclables.  
The main reason most recycling centers are asking people to not place their recyclables in bags is because loose bags get stuck in the machines that sort the recyclables. Who is Interested in a November 2022 Work Camp/ Adult Mission Trip? Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC is holding an information session (please wear your mask) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the Church's Boyce Hall. All are welcome to learn more about Back Bay Mission and it's outstanding mission trip programs and accomodations. Some of the mission opportunities include helpping with the client choice food bank, serve meals at a community kitchen, rehabilitation of Biloxi area housing and offer day services to the unsheltered. The cost is $250 per person. The trip can be postponed or cancelled at any time. Singing bowls have been around for thousands of years, and they are a common fixture in sound healing practices. Come join us on April 24 at Pleasant Hill Community Church, beginning at 3:00pm for a Cystal Bowl Concert. The concert will be performed by Diana and Ron Riggs All are invited to attend and learn some fascinating crystal bowl history while enjoying the beautiful music! Diana Riggs has an extensive musical background where she played piano, organ, and directed choirs to assist in she and Ron's music ministry. Their travels took them from Ohio to California and back to Little Rock, AR, where Riggs played in four different churches over 31 years. Riggs was Pleasant Hill Community Church's music director from December 2015 until November of 2021.
